As we continue to welcome visitors to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and to share our stories with visitors, students and team members, we are seeking a Chef De Partie in a Full Time capacity and become a member of our small and friendly kitchen team working within an amazing and unique work location surrounded by Aussie Wildlife.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Food and Beverage, this is a hands-on role in a fast-paced kitchen with a dual focus on day trade - short order cooking, bulk production, general food preparation as well as events preparation, cooking and execution.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary hosts a suite of F&B outlets; The Sanctuary Café, Wild Burgers, Beefy Pies and mobile vending, plus the Sawrey Function Room. In addition, we have a number of amazing outdoor event locations within the Sanctuary grounds to host functions and special events. You will prepare and deliver various styles of cuisine for our suite of F&B outlets, seasonal updates, featured specials and short order cooking for family friendly café menu.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have the capacity to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and have experience working with relevant F&B establishments. i.e., busy hotel or club kitchen, large café / bistro, tourism facility etc. The successful applicant will be confident in their skills and motivated to perform quality food preparation and hold knowledge of food safety responsibilities in a hospitality environment.
Other skills and attributes we are looking for include:
Minimum 3 years previous experience and industry qualifications are highly regarded.
Must have a genuine commitment to Food Safety, hygiene standards and Workplace health and safety.
You will have a genuine commitment to minimising wastage.
Must be self-directed with excellent time management skills and ability to work calmly under pressure.
Able to show initiative and demonstrate a flexible approach to work is essential.
This role will require ability to lift up to 15 kg, standing for long periods, working in a hot environment and require bending and twisting.
Must have a friendly, flexible, and positive ‘can-do’ attitude - we genuinely value a friendly team culture.
