The Grand Hotel are currently seeking experienced and energetic Chefs / Cooks to join our kitchen team located on beautiful Thursday Island!

The Torres Strait is scattered with pristine beaches, with each island offering different adventures. Thursday Island is a unique tropical regional island in Far North Queensland, home to rich culture, art and an abundance of wildlife.
The Grand Hotel features accommodation, restaurant, function room, bistro and bar. This is a beautiful property, located on the waterfront and caters to Corporate Travelers, Government Workers and Tourists.
The Role:
As a Chef / Cook, your daily responsibilities will include:
Assisting our team in maintaining an efficient and proactive kitchen operation
Ensuring all meals are of high quality and are prepared in a timely manner
Utilising a variety of fresh, frozen and prepared ingredients to prepare, cook and present a range of dishes according to a seasonal menu
Practicing effective stock rotation and wastage minimisation procedures
Assisting with menu changes when required
Successful Candidate:
To be successful in the role, you will possess the following:
Previous experience within a fast paced commercial kitchen
Availability to work any hospitality hours
Ability to work well under a high pressure environment
Brilliant communication skills to all team members
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery preferred but not essential
Benefits:
The successful candidate will be provided with the following:
Full time salary between $55,000 - $70,000 depending on experience or Full time on an hourly rate
