Will you be part of the energy solution?About the roleThe purpose of the position, Polymer Scientist / Product Steward, is to provide a wide range of specialised technical plastic product testing and investigative services, in support of product development and management, marketing, technical/sales including customer specific requirements and support. The role supports manufacturing through Quality Assurance/ Quality Control (QA/QC) testing, investigative support and trouble shooting. Approximately 50 % of the role involves Product Stewardship support for polymer including regulatory compliance support.In this dual role you will be responsible for:Ensure designated instruments and equipment are kept in good working order. Perform or Schedule regular maintenance and calibrations of assigned equipment/instruments as required.Provide support to the polymer plant laboratory in terms of equipment calibration and troubleshooting as required.Ensure that the Laboratory and Product Manager is supported by ensuring equipment is relevant, applicable to requirements and valid.Document procedures and work instructions as required, to comply with ISO9001.Undertake reviews in line with legislative requirements as assigned. Train fellow staff members in new methodologies and equipment.Support the Polymer business by undertaking required QC/QA testing as a priority.Perform a wide range of technical tasks in accordance with prescribed test methods and work instructions to support our customers and product development.Record observations and test results, prepare technical reports to agreed deadlines.Ensure that the database on Healthcare and Medical applications is annually reviewed.Provide support to Technical / Sales team on matters of Healthcare and Medical materials and be a focal point for approvals.Ensure that the regulatory matrix testing is conducted annually. Provide regulatory affairs / Product Stewardship training to internal and external customersManage raw material Product Stewardship and regulatory compliance. Ensure the compliance of SDSs of finished products (polymers)Contributing to the Product Stewardship bulletin and regulatory statements for finished products (polymers)Skills and ExperienceTertiary qualifications in a chemical (engineering) or science stream.Previous technical related experience in a polymer business, preferably PP or PE ideal.Understanding of regulatory affairs and Product Stewardship aspects for polymers ideal.High computer and IT literacy including e-mail, SAP R3, JD Edwards Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Familiarity with ISO9001 and Safety systems and processes desirable.Ideally, Minimum at least 5 years professional experience working in technical roles with various analytical techniques, wet chemistry, material testing and/or plastic processing equipment.
