- Full Time | $220,000 - $240, 000 inc. 15% Super | Canberra preferred. (Remote and flexible working options will be considered for the right candidate)

About the organisation
Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association (AIDA) is the peak national body representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors and medical students. Our work advocates for a health system that is culturally safe, reflective of needs and inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s cultural values, which in turn will improve the health and life outcomes of our people.
About the role
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for leading all aspects of AIDA’s operations. The CEO will need to uphold and reflect the values of AIDA.
As the CEO, you will work in accordance with principles of workplace diversity, workplace participation, a safe working environment and the empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will work with the AIDA Board to:
- Oversee continuous quality improvement systems that enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of the organisation.
- Effectively liaise, negotiate, and influence a range of stakeholders in government, non- government and corporate sectors including both Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders.
- Effectively contribute to AIDA organisational outcomes, strategic directions, planning, implementation, evaluation, and quality improvement.
- Provide timely updates and input to cross-team outcomes that support organisational goals and deliverables.
- Undertake effective records management.
- Work as an effective member of the AIDA team including building relationships across AIDA to achieve organisational outcomes.
- Develop a program of personal education relative to this position and undertake relevant training.
About you
The CEO will be a visionary, strategic and knowledgeable Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who understands the health and education objectives of the organisation. You will be a specialist in liaising and developing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and be able to represent AIDA in the broader Australian political, medical, health and educational communities.
Key Selection Criteria
- Identifies as an Indigenous person with a track record of connection with Aboriginal communities in a health context
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience at the CEO (or similar) level
- Highly skilled with all aspects of corporate governance with current Board experience
- Demonstrated strategic thinking with a focus on obtaining results for and on behalf of AIDA’s Membership cohort
- Leadership experience highlighting an ability to innovate, connect and develop superior stakeholder relationships especially with Health academics, researchers, medical professionals, and the like
- A track record of negotiating policy and funding outcomes with Federal and State government agencies
- High order communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with a wide variety of stakeholders with sound judgement, tact, discretion, and confidentiality
