Mornington Shire is in the Gulf of Carpentaria and comprises 22 islands, the largest of which are Mornington Island, Wellesley Island, Bentinck Island and Sweers Island. Mornington Island is the largest of the group covering an area of 700 square kilometres.

Mornington Shire Council is now seeking a CEO to lead the delivery of high-quality services that meet the diverse needs of the community.

The CEO will work alongside an energised, motivated and driven Mayor who is committed to bringing about significant and positive change in the community.

The council has agreed to a five-year strategic plan to meet the goals of the community and while the position will be challenging, the rewards will be great.

Council is seeking a CEO who:

• Can actualise the council's 5-year strategic plan, building a shared sense of purpose, a culture of achievement and a framework for performance.
• Has excellent financial, economic and organisational leadership skills
• Has strong stakeholder engagement capabilities, and well-established networks in State and Federal government.
