Your Role
As Chief Legal & Risk Officer, you will oversee and be responsible for a diverse portfolio across legal, risk, compliance, auditing, quality and regulatory affairs across the enterprise. This role includes providing legal counsel to the board of directors, chief executive officer and other executive / senior management. CL&ROs must possess strong initiative, as well as excellent management and leadership skills and strong commercial business acumen.
You will keep abreast of the external environment and be comfortable navigating in a fast-paced, complex and ambiguous operating environment, and support enterprise-wide change leveraging best practices that drive long-term strategies to sustain and grow the Arriba Group and its related companies.
Responsibilities
In your new position your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Legal & Contract
Oversee the legal team to develop and lead corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company's matters
Oversee delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies and priorities
Risk & Governance
Oversee the risk team, develop Risk Management framework, charter, policy statements and methodology, ensuring it is aligned with best practice and establish risk appetite across organsation
Provide independent reports to Senior Executives and Program Coordinators with respect to the overall progress of Risk Management in the organisation.
Compliance & Quality
- Leverage talent management framework and apply strategic workforce planning lens, to drive talent and succession planning annual processes with business to identify plans for internal talent, identify organisational gaps
Oversee the Compliance and Quality team to identify all appropriate external legislative, regulatory, and compliance frameworks
Develop, recommend and implement compliance policy, processes and systems which are adequate to meet all organisational compliance and policy obligations.
You will also be responsible for Regulatory Affairs & Auditing, and ensuring applicable policies, procedures and processes are understood and adhered.
Skills and Experiences:
Experience and qualifications
Legal degree and registered as a solicitor with at least 8 to 10 years’ experience in General commercial law and/or litigation.
Proficiency interpreting contracts, policies, legislation and Awards
Solid technology skills - Power BI analytics, Jira, Confluence, MS Office (advanced level Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Broad exposure to corporate and commercial legal work, including negotiation, drafting and administration of contracts.
Minimum 10 years Commercial, NFP or Government experience
Trusted strategic advisor, confidant to CEO with credibility and gravitas Expert knowledge of Legal, Risk, Compliance, Quality and Regulatory policies and frameworks
Highest standard of ethics, privacy and confidentiality, discretion and judgment.
Experience working directly at a senior level with CEO and General Managers
