The opportunity
The Civil Engineer provides high level civil and structural engineering advice and support across Sydney Trains and NSW Trains in order to maintain the technical integrity of the assets and compliance to standards. The role facilitates and undertakes detailed asset inspections, defect identification and classification and manages the defect rectification works through the use of external service providers.
- Undertake detailed asset inspections and failure investigations and interpret technical inspection reports, perform failure analysis, identify symptoms and root cause of failures and provide detailed asset condition or failure analysis reports.
- Facilitate and manage the repair of damaged assets to reduce equipment downtime and customer impact, including the triaging of requests for repair and implementation of a staged and end-to-end assessment and repair process.

About you
You’re a hands on civil engineer with the ability to managing competing priorities and manage internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in a civil engineering discipline or experience in civil and structural asset maintenance.
- Demonstrated experience in site inspections and diagnosis of faults in structures and in the delivery of maintenance repairs to steel and concrete structures.
- Proven ability to coordinate and manage external service providers to deliver maintenance to mission critical equipment and recommend appropriate corrective actions to expedite repairs.
Salary and benefits
The salary for this position is RC6 ($127,559-$141,442) plus superannuation and leave loading.
