The Client
Sustainable Homes is a QBCC-licensed builder in Queensland, specialises in creating eco-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable residences.
They now seek an experienced Civil Engineering Technician to join their team in Darra, QLD.
The Role
This is a full time salary with an annual salary set at $70,000 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
· Preparing eco-friendly design sketches, charts, tabulations, plans, and designs for Sustainable Homes projects, including green drainage systems, water conservation facilities, and sustainable sewerage reticulation systems.
· Leading and executing fieldwork to assess the environmental impact of potential construction sites and identifying sustainable building opportunities.
· Conducting comprehensive laboratory testing on recycled and sustainable construction materials to ensure they meet Sustainable Homes' green building standards.
· Interpreting project instructions with a focus on sustainability to select the most environmentally friendly equipment and procedures.
· Collecting and analysing environmental data to integrate into Sustainable Homes' eco-friendly project plans.
· Performing calculations to optimize the use of resources and minimize waste in Sustainable Homes projects.
· Estimating material costs, focusing on sustainable sourcing and cost-effectiveness to keep projects within budget while adhering to green principles.
· Ensuring that all completed works meet or exceed environmental sustainability standards, alongside regulatory compliance and contract requirements.
· Inspecting Civil Engineering works for environmental integrity and sustainability, assessing both quality and adherence to Sustainable Homes' green vision.
· Organizing and overseeing the maintenance and repair of eco-friendly structures, ensuring longevity and minimal environmental impact.
· Conducting field and laboratory tests on construction materials to validate their eco-friendliness and suitability for Sustainable Homes' innovative projects.
· Performing soil tests in the laboratory to confirm compatibility with sustainable construction techniques and materials.
· Gathering and analysing traffic survey data to design efficient, sustainable transportation systems that reduce carbon footprints and enhance community connectivity.
· Assisting in the preparation of environmental impact assessments to ensure all Sustainable Homes projects promote ecological balance and sustainability.
Requirements
· Diploma in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field
· Specialised certifications in sustainable construction practices, green technologies, or environmental management is beneficial
· Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Civil Engineering with a specific focus on sustainable, eco-friendly project planning, design, and execution
· Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated proficiency in advanced Civil Engineering software for design and analysis
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting field and laboratory tests to develop new green construction technologies
· Proven track record in R&D of sustainable construction materials or methods, documented through patents, publications, or project portfolios
· Ability to solve complex engineering problems with innovative, sustainable solutions
· Strong leadership skills with experience in managing multidisciplinary teams on complex, sustainable construction projects
· Must demonstrate the ability to lead projects from concept through completion, ensuring they meet all technical, sustainability, and financial objectives
