Council’s Civil Asset Management branch deliver roughly $30M in road and infrastructure assets on the Sunshine Coast each year. About the Role

Civil Field Worker Level 3

Primarily, you will:

  • General construction and maintenance labouring tasks associated with, but not limited to:-
  • Concreting
  • Kerb and channelling
  • Stormwater drainage
  • Roads
  • Roadside assets
  • Bridges
  • Foreshores and reserves
  • Removal and disposal of debris
  • Meet obligations under the Workplace Health and Safety Act (as detailed below) and the Environmental Protection Act, and in particular:
  • Comply with the requirement of work procedures and practices issued by the Council for the purpose of workplace health and safety and environmental protection.
  • Eliminate or report hazardous conditions and work practices that come to one’s attention and report
  • promptly any incident that involves work related injury or illness, a near miss or damage to property or the environment.
  • Operate and maintain Council’s machinery & equipment as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Civil Field Level 4 - (Sealed Roads and Truck) 

Primarily, you will:

  • Assist in general construction and maintenance labouring tasks associated with and including truck

operations.

  • Meet obligations under the Workplace Health and Safety Act (as detailed below) and the Environmental Protection Act, and in particular:
  • Comply with the requirement of work procedures and practices issued by the Council for the purpose of workplace health and safety and environmental protection
  • Eliminate or report hazardous conditions and work practices that come to one’s attention and report promptly any incident that involves work related injury or illness, a near miss or damage to property or the environment
  • Operate and maintain Council’s machinery & equipment as per the manufacturer’s recommendations
  • Properly use, maintain and seek replacement when necessary of all personal protective equipment provided.
  • Assist the Field Leader in supervision of tasks and the provision of on-the-job coaching as required.

About you

To succeed in this role, you’ll also have these qualifications and skills:

  • General construction induction training card (previously called a white card)     
  • Current “C” class driver’s licence.
  • Current Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to operate and undertake general maintenance of trucks and relevant civil construction and machinery.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and communication skills necessary to follow direction and work programs to complete tasks within set timeframes.
  • Physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring, frequent heavy lifting and bending.
