Clerical Research Assistant - Gynaecology Research Centre

  • 1 to 2 days per week (negotiable) for 10 weeks

The Gynaecology 2 Unit provides clinical and surgical management of a large variety of benign gynaecological diseases.

Our major areas of focus are laparoscopic surgery, endometriosis and pelvic pain.

The Research Assistant will support research projects under the supervision of A/Prof Martin Healey and Dr Avelyn Wong, and assist with the recruitment of study participants and provide administrative support.

Your contribution

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to coordinate the clinical data and research needs of the Gynaecology Research Centre.

Your duties may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Attend gynaecology outpatient clinic on Thursdays 10am – 1pm to identify and recruit (face-to-face) potential participants to clinical trials
  • Follow up participants in clinical trials with phone calls/written communication
  • Data entry
  • Clinical trial management, organisation and administration ensuring trials run according to their protocols

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with ability to manage large datasets in Excel and create/apply formulas (this will be tested in the interview)
  • Able to work in a close team environment and able to work independently
  • Time management and prioritising skills with ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Previous experience in clinical trials
  • Holds or is working toward a Bachelor (or higher) degree
  • Previous experience in recruiting patients to clinical trials (desirable)

As this role fits into category C of the departments risk ratings, applicants are strongly encouraged (although not required) to be vaccinated against influenza.)
