The Emergency Department at the Mackay Base Hospital are seeking applications for a Clinical Facilitator (Clinical Nurse) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
The Clinical Facilitator (CF) is accountable for supporting, educating, and developing the knowledge and skills of the emergency nursing workforce. CFs practice autonomously, provide leadership, apply critical thinking skills and have a strong focus on enacting teaching strategies. Clinical facilitation is delivered at the point of clinical care to support clinicians in achieving skill acquisition and practice development. The CF will support nurse progression in accordance with the lifelong learning framework, assist in achieving mandatory training requirements, and with achieving the requirements of the Transition Support Program (TSP) – Emergency.
About the Team
The Emergency Department (ED) is a level 4 (Clinical Services & Capabilities Framework). The ED provides 24-hour 365-day service for the reception, assessment, treatment, observation, admission and discharge of adults and children with urgent and non-urgent illnesses. This includes:
- The management of medical and surgical conditions.
- The management of trauma patients.
- The management of paediatric illnesses (medical, surgical and orthopaedic).
- The management of psychiatric illnesses – adult and paediatric.
- The management of obstetric and gynaecological cases.
- The extended observation and management of patients in dedicated short-term treatment area.
- The management of patients following sexual assault.
Physical Structure:
- 2 Resuscitation bays.
- 4 High Dependency bays with capability to provide full resuscitation.
- 16 physical acute bed spaces inclusive of paediatric patients.
- Green Zone – 8 bays and 3 consult rooms (including a sexual assault room), designed to review Cat 3,4,5 patients.
- Separate entrance for QAS and general public access.
- 2 negative pressure / isolation room.
- Short-term treatment area (mixed adult and paediatric patients) – 12 beds funded, with 14 physical bed spaces.
