Tell me more...The midwife will work in conjunction with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners and health workers, other Caseload and MGP midwives, medical officers and allied health staff to provide a culturally appropriate high-level service across the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth and post-natal period (up to 6 weeks post birth) including health promotion and education ensuring the provision of best practice and quality client care to women and their families.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical problem-solving skills and the ability to plan and evaluate maternity care, for all women and their family, in collaboration with other team members.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with multidisciplinary team members, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills in a cross-cultural environment.

Requirements for the role:
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration/endorsement with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to commencement of clinical duties. Current registration with the Australian Health Practice Registration Authority (APHRA) as a registered midwife and current practising certificate is mandatory.
  • Participate in an on-call roster as applicable.
  • Travel across the TCHHS will be a requirement of this position in commercial and/or light aircraft and 4WD vehicles.
  • It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 (Health Employment Directive No. 12/21 and Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70).
