About the Unit/Team/Department
The Mackay Hospital and Health Service (MHHS) Endoscopy Service is a highly specialised service that encompasses both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic medical procedures. Patients who require a surveillance endoscopic procedure are managed in a standardised manner in accordance with current state-wide recommendations across MHHS sites.
All surveillance endoscopy recommendations regarding frequency follow the current National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) guidelines, individual endoscopists, endoscopy units and the HHS aim to achieve 90% compliance with surveillance recommendations. The MHHS assume responsibility for maintaining a list of patients requiring further surveillance endoscopies. This position is currently situated at Mackay base Hospital (MHHS).

The Clinical Nurse Consultant is an employee who is a registered nurse who:
- Is appointed to an advanced practice nursing position; and
- Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set.

The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
