The SAFE START Consultation Liaison role will provide essential mental health consultation and liaison and care co-ordination functions across mental health, drug & alcohol, maternity, child & family, services for families with multiple and complex needs during the perinatal period.
The SAFE START C-L role will include strategic coordination of SAFE START Multidisciplinary Case Discussion (MCD)meetings and responding to Level 3 (complex needs) SAFE START families and developing pathways. Perinatal families identified as Level 3 risk as per the SAFE START psychosocial assessment and depression screeningprocess have multiple and complex risk factors requiring a range of specialist health and other services to work together to support and treat parent and child individuals within the family, and family functioning.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.
Selection Criteria * Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) with minimum of 7 years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least 5 years full time equivalent experience and post graduate qualifications in related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience, using evidence based practice, working with women and families experiencing psychosocial and psychiatric problems in the perinatal period.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of SAFE START strategic priorities and reform agendas.
- Ability to navigate complex systems and negotiate with stakeholders regarding implementation of strategies within Safe Start – Supporting Families Early Package (SFE).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the impact of mental health problems and mental illness on pregnancy and parenting.
- Comprehensive clinical and service development experience within mental health and nursing services.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and ability to work autonomously and part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Current NSW unrestricted drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
