About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Community Mental Health Service.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant will provide a high standard of assertive care co-ordination for Complex and High Risk Civil and Forensic consumers within a fast paced and challenging multidisciplinary service. The Clinical Nurse Consultant is based within the St Vincent’s Hospital Community Mental Health Service and requires extensive knowledge of mental health disorders and demonstrated advanced clinical assessment and intervention skills to provide support and treatment for this cohort of consumers and their carers.

Expert consultation and liaison with internal and external partners including the St Vincent’s Mental Health Service case management teams, boarder St Vincent’s Mental Health Service and key stakeholders in the local community is a key requirement of this role. The consultation and liaison role extends to providing support and education and arranging Supervision for the health professionals of the Mental Health Service and other key stakeholders who work with consumers with complex mental, social and physical health needs.

This role extends into participating in the development, implementation and review of a Flexible Assertive Community Treatment Team (FACT) within the St Vincent’s Community Mental Health Service and to take on the role of Lead Clinician when this team has been established.

About you:

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration with at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience within a community mental health service.
3. Demonstrated advanced clinical assessment and intervention skills and the ability to lead, direct and co-ordinate high quality assertive care to support Complex and High Risk Civil and Forensic consumers and their carers within a community mental health service.
4. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team and demonstrated experience in consultancy and providing support to members of the multidisciplinary team and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
5.Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and experience of the legislative framework that informs mental health practice including the Mental Health Act 2007 NSW.
6.Demonstrated ability to negotiate and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders including demonstrated high level effective communication and interpersonal skills.
7.Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing demands within a complex environment.
8.Current unrestricted drivers licence (Car).
