Medical and Palliative Care (North & West Ward)
Full-Time Position
St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital’s (SATH) 55 bed medical ward (North & West Ward) performs a range of acute medical, sub-acute medical and palliative care inpatient services. The palliative care outreach program is an integral part of the service which provides end-of-life care to patients in the Darling Downs community.
About the Role:
SATH has an exciting opportunity for a committed and motivated Clinical Nurse Manager to lead our medical (North & West) ward team. Reporting to the Director of Nursing you will be tasked with providing clinical/ operational leadership and management within North & West Ward. In addition, you will provide direction and oversight to the Community Liaison Nurse/ Discharge Planner and Diabetic Educator, facilitate the hospital-wide influenza vaccination program, and coordinate monthly MDT meetings.
Mandatory Qualification/ Professional Registration/ Other Requirements:
Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent)
Nurse Practitioner qualification/ endorsement (desirable although not necessary)
Previous experience in acute medical, sub-acute medical and palliative care nursing
Adult advanced life support preferred
Post-graduate qualification in medical/ palliative care nursing and/ or management (desirable)
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the NSQHS Standards
Key Accountabilities:
Demonstrate high level leadership and management capability within medical services
Demonstrate high level leadership and communication skills, including negotiation and mediation, conflict resolution and problem solving
Responsibility and accountability to proactively manage financial, human resource and operational key performance indicators and benchmarks (WHPPD, Leave balances)
Develop and maintain collaborative nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teams
