An exciting opportunity is available to join the team in NICU for a Clincal Nurse Specialist Grade 2 in the Family Discharge Planning role. This is a permanent part time position working 3 days a week.
The Newborn Family Support Team (CNS2) is responsible for and aims to facilitate a smooth transition from NICU to home or referral hospital.
Your primary objectives are facilitating the early discharge of babies from the NICU, providing home-based neonatal care and support to families, initiating the early integration of babies into the community and to provide practical and psychosocial support for parents after infant discharge.

Selection criteria to be addressed: * Current registration with AHPRA - Division 1 Registered Nurse
- Postgraduate qualifications in • Neonatal or Early Childhood & Family Nursing • Relevant recent experience in NICU / SCN • Lactation qualifications or extensive knowledge and experience of breast feeding problems
- Current NSW Driver Licence
- A comprehensive understanding of the care requirements associated with a premature delivery and their ongoing health needs, as well as the need for effective discharge planning and an demonstrated commitment to clinical practice development
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining involvement within the wider multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated • Problem solving and decision making abilities according to best practice • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, carers and a diverse range of health care providers • Computer literacy
- No physical restrictions as the position requires frequent lifting, carrying and stair climbing
