The Opportunity:
Kununurra Regional Hospital is actively seeking a skilled nursing professional for a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Mental Health position. In this position the CNS is responsible for providing a timely and specialised clinical mental health nursing consultancy service to the Emergency Department and other areas of Kununurra Hospital. The prime directive of this post is to triage and conduct primary assessments of all patients presenting to the Emergency Department and who may be considered either at risk or as requiring specialised mental health assessment. Priorities include consultation services to clinicians (medical and nursing), providing assistance and information to carers and liaising with relevant others as required in all areas of the hospital.
What we are looking for:
Essential
- Eligible for registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated advanced skills in the nursing management of complex psychiatric presentations, risk assessment, crisis intervention and management of aggression in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrated advanced written, verbal and interpersonal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to solve logistical problems that involve competing priorities.
- A working knowledge of computers and information systems relevant to the position/role.
- Current knowledge of legislative obligations for the Mental Health Act (2014).
- Working knowledge of providing clinical care within the recovery framework principles.
- Ability to work on-call on weekends as required.
- Current C class Drivers Licence.
