About the role

The Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drug (MHAOD) Branch of Offender Services Directorate delivers mental health and alcohol and other drug healthcare to some of the most vulnerable and high-risk individuals in the State. The MHAOD staff work to improve MHAOD patient outcomes and reduce associated harm and risks as far as possible.

MHAOD services are delivered by multidisciplinary teams made up of highly specialised staff including nurses, consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, Aboriginal mental health workers and prison support officers.

There are numerous exciting MHAOD service development projects occurring across the State including the new alcohol and other drugs (AOD) integration unit for male prisoners at Bunbury and Casuarina Prison expansion project and future Mental Health Sub Acute Units.

The role of the MHAOD Clinical Nurse Specialist includes working closely with the Clinical Nurse Consultant to support delivering clinical practice in accordance with the Model of Care; coordinate of case management; discharge planning and liaison with community services.

This position is a valued member of the MHAOD team and participates in the prison multidisciplinary risk assessment and management team processes and meetings.

About you

Current registration in the category of Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and a relevant post graduate qualification in mental health or addictions and/or extensive clinical experience in addictions and mental health.

All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.

Pool Recruitment
