The Victorian Infectious Disease Service (VIDS) at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Doherty Institute provides a wide range of infectious disease care for inpatients and outpatients. VIDS clinician-researchers lead local and international clinical trials, focused on gaining new knowledge and improving care for people affected by important infectious conditions.
This newly created position will play a critical role in the conduct of innovative clinical research studies as part of VIDS and the Doherty. The successful applicant will work closely with VIDS clinicians to identify and recruit participants to prospective research studies, obtain clinical specimens from participants, and collect data for retrospective audits. There will be close liaison with world class laboratories based at the Doherty.
Your new role:
Work closely with infectious diseases clinician-researchers to manage research trials, including participant recruitment and research sampling
Manage trial conduct and follow up of participants and documentation
Participate in developing and implementing trial documents and protocols
About you:
A minimum of 3 years post graduate nursing experience, with an interest and/or experience in clinical research
Evidence of further education/continuous professional development.
Demonstrated excellent team working skills with ability to work using own initiative.
Effective listening and interpersonal skills.
High motivation and wiliness to learn

Selection Criteria Essential: Registered nurse with a minimum of 3 years post graduate nursing demonstrating the appropriate competencies and skills for the job and clinical setting. Evidence of further education/continuous professional development. Ability to undertake venepuncture for collection of research specimens.
