Your role
St John of God Group Services have an exciting position based between two of our sites, Kings Square CBD Office and the Midland hospital in the Patient Experience and Clinical Excellence team as a Falls Prevention and Management Clinical Specialist.
This role is offered on a 12 month fixed term basis working 76 hours a fortnight.
Primarily this position is to implement a sustainable falls prevention and management program and provide support to Group Wide falls strategies. The role will provide direct patient support, leadership and specialist knowledge in falls prevention and management.
The position
- Implement sustainable programs and solutions that prevent and/or reduce the risk of patient falls at SJG Midland with a focus on preventing injurious patient falls.
- Plan and lead the delivery of a specialised falls assessment and treatment service to inpatients at risk of or experiencing falls, working closely with patients and the multidisciplinary care team.
- Support whole organisation wide falls quality improvement and risk management strategies in conjunction with the Manager Quality Improvement Group Services. Projects will have implications for patient care, safety and best practice in falls prevention and management.
- Develop and deliver initiatives that foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement across SJG Midland, cross-divisional special interest groups/ networks and training opportunities in relation to falls prevention and management.
- A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in health care or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years' clinical experience in the hospital and health care domain.
- Extensive experience and knowledge in areas of falls prevention and management.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of research and best practice principles and experience undertaking activities utlitising the quality review cycle aligned with the National Safety and Quality Health Services Standards.
- Advanced interpersonal and communication (written and verbal skills).
- Highly developed time management and organisational skills, with proven effectiveness in relation to meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work with a variable workload with minimal supervision (i.e. self-directed and demonstrated initiative).
