Responsibilities
- CAM setup, running and maintenance of CNC and a range of other machinery, such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, cutters and welders to perform precision tasks such as drilling, turning, milling and grinding to repair, modify and fabricate metal and plastic components.
- Design and fabricate working models, moulds, tools, fixtures and prototypes to extremely close tolerance.
- Assist engineers and lab personnel in testing models and prototypes, analysing and debugging problems.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics and engineering drawings to ensure accuracy of work.
- Inspect and measure completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.
- Communicate effectively with customers to identify and understand their machining needs and requirements.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems with machinery and equipment as they arise.
- Maintain a clean, organised work area and adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.
Qualifications
- Australian Recognised Trade Certificate in Machining or Fitting & Turning.
- Have experience in a small to medium engineering workshop environment.
- Be able to demonstrate safe work practices at all times.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in interpreting engineering and machining drawings and specifications.
- Must have a team-orientated mindset.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a machinist, with a demonstrated ability to operate and maintain various types of machinery and equipment.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers and gauges.
- Computer literacy to manage time sheets and scheduling.
