About the role
NSWIS is looking for a highly organised and dynamic person to fullfill the role Coach, Acrobatics. The role is to provide expert technical and analytical coaching support, within the daily training environment, to optimise the development of fundamental movement and acrobatic skills that underpin and enables athletes to execute complex and superior skill required for elite performance. The Coach, Acrobatics, will support NSWIS sport programs where there is a significant acrobatic requirement and will be an integral part of the inter-disciplinary performance team. The Coach, Acrobatics will work closely with the sport program coaches, inputting into the individual athlete’s performance plan (IAPP) to enhance the athlete’s technical skill development and positively impact their performance.
This is a fulltime role offering salary range between $102,790 – $107,534 plus employer superannuation which will be negotiable based on the successful candidates experience and demonstrated competency. The contract period is until 31 December 2024 in line with the Olympic cycle.

About you
You will have:

  • Extensive knowledge of the gymnastics acrobatic skill curriculum, coaching techniques and feedback approaches.
  • Understanding the key levers for high performance delivery to achieve national/international success.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of an acrobatics skill learning curriculum.
  • Demonstrated coaching experience in working with athletes in an acrobatic sport program. This will include coaching of athletes on trampolines and other key apparatus.
  • Passion and enthusiasm, effective communication, the ability to plan, prioritise and to work collaboratively with NSWIS sport program coaches and athletes within a high performance sport daily training environment.
  • Knowledge of creating and implementing child safe environments and uphold processes to ensure (athletes, coaches, and staff) are treated with respect and dignity and are protected from bullying, discrimination, harassment, or abuse including the use of language such that feedback: is non-discriminatory, prejudicial and/or abusive; but rather is constructive, encouraging and motivational.

Essential Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Movement, Coaching, Sport Science, or related field.
  • Relevant Gymnastics coaching qualification (acrobatic, tumbling and/or trampoline).
  • Coaching experience in an acrobatics related sport.
  • Sport Integrity Australia – Anti-Doping Fundamentals and annual update 2022.
  • Sport Integrity Australia – PBTR – Child Protection and Safeguarding
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Working with Children Check
  • Proof of up to date immunisation (COVID-19).
