About the Role

The Commercial Drafter and Advisor will work closely with key operations stakeholders to support drafting, tenders, contract establishment, variations and enforcement. This position is based in Adelaide with occasional travel to the Olympic Dam mine site.
 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with business units to improve commercial outcomes and contract performance;
  • Collaborate with business units and SMEs to draft contract scopes (schedule of deliverables) and variations, specifically addressing:
    • Clearly defined scope of services;
    • Well defined service levels and corresponding KPIs;
    • Cost controls;
    • Performance incentives;
    • Risk mitigation and appropriate apportionment of risk.
  • Establish consistency in contracting across the Asset’s portfolio
  • Develop a sound understanding of the Asset’s contract portfolio and support strategic procurement strategies and planning
  • Critical analysis of commercial proposals prepared by other business units, providing advice to key stakeholders to ensure:
    • contract terms are fit for purpose and commercially sound;
    • appropriate risk management and apportionment.
    • benefits are validated
  • Support Asset stakeholders to ensure sourcing activities maintain alignment with business requirements;
  • Contract enforcement:
    • Advisory to contract owners on exercisable options within the contract
    • Drafting contract notices and supporting development of service cure plans
  • Drive continuous improvement and contracting optimization.
  • Working collaboratively with the Asset to support managing and enforcing contracts. 

 

About You

The successful candidate must have strong commercial drafting and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Law or Commerce preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in contract and commercial drafting essential
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to support the development and implementation of complex sourcing strategies
  • Experience in commercial risk management and market sourcing
  • Exercise sound judgement to listen; ask the right questions; validate assumptions and understand stakeholder requirements
  • Have strong analytical, critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills with a track record of driving successful business and commercial outcomes 

 

Other highly regarded experience includes:

  • Practical experience in mining, resources or heavy industrial
