About the role
You will be an integral member of the pipelines team coordinating legal and commercial requirements associated with Viva Energy’s licensed pipelines (VIC & NSW). You will be the key liaison for all 3rd party activities and stakeholders residing, working and developing land in the vicinity of our pipelines, from developers, councils, landowners and other stakeholders, including major public infrastructure authorities. You will be key in ensuring that activity around Viva pipelines does not increase commercial exposure or societal risk, and to ensure Viva Energy obligations of public / stakeholder liaison is managed under the Pipelines Act and AS2885.
You will have key responsibilities around;
- Legal and Commercial: managing commercial agreements between parties, liaise with legal, manage invoicing; monitor and coordinate to ensure legal and commercial considerations are addressed as required in developments around licensed pipelines.
- Regulators – ensure all requirements of relevant Pipelines Acts & Regs (VIC/NSW) and AS2885 are met with regard to public / stakeholder liaison and demonstrating as such during audit activity.
- Operations - managing land access around pipeline assets, work with operations to manage encroachment and intensification of land use around pipelines.
- Stakeholder management - working with council planners; review developments around Viva Energy assets; land owner communication; liaise with property developers; manage stakeholder database including recording of all property ownership changes and stakeholder communications.
- Dial before you dig, managing DBYD database and integration with pipelines asset database.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate commitment and determination to manage risk presented by 3rd parties around Viva Pipelines, with confidence in managing a variety of complex stakeholders with a nuanced and sophisticated approach. To achieve this, you will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be highly collaborative in nature as you work across the legal, operations, engineering and integrity teams. You will be highly motivated, willing to learn, flexible, adaptable and determined.
The following specific experience will be advantageous:
- Understanding of application of Pipelines Act and rights / obligation it imposes on Licensees
- Detailed knowledge of AS2885 Engineering Standard
- Experience with pipeline operations and associated regulatory obligations
- Experience in planning regimes, council planning departments, and interaction between councils and land developers
