This role will embed corporate strategy by enabling the deployment of capital more effectively through supporting the organisation in understanding and translating the high-level strategy through to operational outcomes and executions. You will support the development and management of the capital deployment framework and support portfolio investment strategies to have a clearer understanding of how they will directly contribute to the corporate vision and strategy.
Reporting to the Head of Commercial, this critical hire will play a pivotal role across capital investment strategy/ evaluation as well as corporate development activities. It will balance conflict and competing priorities and play both business partner and devil's advocate to hold all parties accountable in shaping the strategic priorities. You will support to the Investment Management Committee by effectively planning the annual calendar, review and consolidate meeting materials, and drafting meeting minutes. This role will set the priorities for effective capital deployment and execution of the organisation's corporate strategy. You will assist business stakeholders through providing guidance and stress testing the refresh of their annual capital investment strategy and plan and guiding the drafting of their capex investment proposals when required. The success of this role will be in providing greater clarity to the organisation on the line of sight between corporate strategy and project execution as well as enabling a seamless annual planning cycle to ensure capital funding is allocated to the right areas by testing and challenging each portfolio's investment plan and priorities.
This role will also work in conjunction with an agile Corporate Development function on new customer projects, bids, and tenders. This will include a variety of duties such as working on M&A opportunities; dealing with stakeholders to field accounting, tax, commercial queries; scrutinising cost plans as well as any activities within commercial finance to assist the bid team. Strong analytical and business modelling skills will be critical in creating feasibility models, business cases, NPV/ IRR and ROI analyses.
You will manage a small team but also play an active role as a visible finance leader within the Finance community to lead through influence.
We are seeking expression of interest from CPA/CA (or equivalent) qualified commercial professionals that can demonstrate adaptability in dealing with a wide audience on a variety of issues from governance to business opportunities. You will be an innovative thinker capable of working in a complex environment to solve multi-dimensional business problems by putting together executable project strategies and plans. Previous experience gained within the management consulting arm of a reputable consulting firm would be viewed favourably as would demonstrable experience supporting corporate investment development activities within a large complex corporate.
