Job description

Wenona is seeking a Communications and Publications Manager to manage the School’s reputation in the community, with effective and clear communication of the School’s vision and brand. You will be supporting our strong reputation and foster positive relationships between members of the Wenona community, the general public and the School. You will lead Wenona’s comprehensive communications, marketing, and public relations program to enhance the School’s image and position with current families, prospective families, and across the Independent Schools’ sector, staying up to date with the latest research, trends, and opportunities.

The Position

The Communications and Publications Manager plays an important role to increase engagement of staff, students, families, and alumnae. Using your creative flair and strategic thinking, you will play a leading role in the design, development, and execution of Wenona’s interactive website, to ensure all messaging is aligned, and reflective of Wenona’s innovative approach to girls’ education. You will build and maintain close collaborative relationships across the School community and source content for key channels, including weekly newsletter stories, social media, magazines, and ideas to pitch to the media. The Communications and Publications Manager will work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Enrolments and Community Relations.

Key priorities for the role include:

  • Build on existing relationships in the Wenona community and develop new opportunities to promote, foster, engage and represent all stakeholders in a positive and proactive manner.
  • Create and implement comprehensive communication, marketing and public relations program to enhance the School’s image and position with the general public and in the Independent Schools’ sector.
  • Develop and uphold the School’s reputation internally and externally by accurate, exciting, timely and meaningful production of content, including the delivery of appropriate digital and printed publications and materials.
  • Creating and printing publications and communication material, and all social media accounts in the School to ensure the alignment with the School’s brand as well as developing new and creative avenues and options.
  • Lead the School’s operational communication information including weekly newsletter, website content, style guides.
  • Implement contemporary practices and critically assess processes and activities, identify opportunities for improvement in service, efficiency and effectiveness.

This is a permanent full-time position.

This role requires the successful applicant to hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check and to be fully COVID vaccinated.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring at least 5 years of relevant experience in the field. You must have an enthusiastic, collaborative approach and have a passion for promoting the School by creating exciting and meaningful material for all communications channels, to engage and appeal to a variety of stakeholders. This role requires the successful person to be highly organised with the ability to multitask and balance competing priorities. You will have strong interpersonal skills and eagerness to deliver excellent service to all stakeholders, whilst supporting the values of Wenona.
