About the role
A new opportunity for an experienced Communications Manager has arisen within our close-knit and energetic Corporate & Indigenous Affairs team.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to Head of External Communications and Community Engagement, you'll be empowered to primarily support Coles' Operations division as a strong business partner, providing high-quality external communications advice and support to its senior leaders across the country.
You'll also
- Develop and execute strategic communications activities to protect and enhance Coles' reputation.
- Manage proactive and reactive communication strategies related to Coles and retail industry supply chains, store operations, incidents, natural disasters, and other relevant issues.
- Manage national, state and local media requests and drive strong, effective media relationships.
- Execute front-line crisis communications.
With knowledge of the Australian retail sector and an understanding of the challenges it faces, you're a proven and proactive media relations professional with a love for issues and crisis management. You've worked in a fast-paced complex environment and come from an external communication and/or journalism background.
You'll also need
- Experience developing and implementing campaigns through a variety of mainstream, online and social media channels.
- Experience in liaising effectively with journalists and acting as spokesperson if required.
- Knowledge and understanding of Australian media.
- Demonstrated ability to change opinions through effective influencing of stakeholders.
