Job description

We are seeking qualified and experienced Communications Technicians to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. The role will be based in Mackay QLD.

NB Industries is a leader in the supply of automotive, mechanical and communications services for the region. Servicing a variety of clients and industries, we specialize in auto electrical, mechanical, fleet management systems, radio communications, networking, backhaul point to point systems and access control from small business to heavy industry.

Based in Mackay QLD, we are ideally situated to service the needs of our clients within the Mackay, Bowen Basin regions and beyond. Successful candidates will be joining an energetic and talented team with a progressive business culture.

These positions will involve:

  • Preventative maintenance and inspections of fixed communication sites, fleet management, wireless telemetry, and digital radio systems as per the maintenance strategies
  • Installing and configuring hardware such as but not limited to phone kits, mobile telephony boosters, CCTV, vehicle camera systems, Fleet Management hardware, access control, radio, and network technology systems on fixed structures SME and communication trailers.
  • Structured cabling installations and upgrades.
  • Comply with drawings and instructions for new installations.
  • Read Schematics
  • Relocating and deploying communications trailers to support mining operations.
  • Identifying and rectifying faults during inspections.
  • Scoping and creating notifications for immediate and preventative work on fleet and equipment.
  • Supporting small project builds at Company workshop.
  • Initiating updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment.
  • Undertaking training on a regular basis and provide support and coaching to work mates.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in the implementing of the new initiatives in a constructive way.
  • Sourcing technical information from available reference manuals, OEM, and computer-based systems.
  • Executing tasks to a high standard and in a safe and timely matter
Directly relevant and related technical knowledge, employment history and qualifications are required. Including at least 3 years consistent and recent employment history within various environments. Candidate possessing a current standard 11 and QLD Coal Board Medical will be highly regarded.

These positions will be full time, based on a minimum of 38 hours per week with a base salary starting at $79,040.
