About the role

The Community Engagement Coordinator is an exciting new opportunity that will support the development, implementation, and measurement of projects, activities and events relating to the delivery of capacity building initiatives aimed at supporting needs identified within the Community amongst various cohorts. As the specialist in Community Engagement, you will actively build positive relationships with community members and partners across various council LGA’s, other Government agencies, businesses, and local community service organisations to enable a collaborative approach within community projects, activities, and events with strong positive outcomes.

With experience working within a social justice framework and on community initiatives, and specialising in Community Engagement practice, collaborative project, activities, and event development, and management, this offers a dynamic and challenging role for the right candidate.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is based within the multi- disciplined team and community focussed department within Warragamba Silverdale Neighbourhood Centre (WSNC) organisation committed to delivering innovative supports and opportunities to the local community.

About the Team!

Warragamba Silverdale Neighbourhood Centre is a non-for-profit organisation. We are growing and delivering innovative therapeutic supports and programs for community inclusion, individuals, child and families within the Warragamba, Silverdale and surrounding areas.

We provide various strategic supports and services to the local community including Targeted Supports, Programs, Events, Long Day Care, Out of School Hours Care and Vacation Care services. We are a passionate and dynamic service committed to developing and providing strength and evidence-based supports/programs to effectively improve long-term positive change for those we work with and the communities we work in.

About You

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Policy, Community Development, Social Work, Welfare or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and delivery of Community initiatives and community events.
  • Significant knowledge of Community Engagement practice and demonstrated Community Engagement skills, including direct experience working collaboratively with community members.
  • Proven experience in the development and management of social impact projects including project planning, reporting and evaluation, budgeting, stakeholder mapping, and partner negotiation.
  • Demonstrated written skills including effective grant writing and management, report and submission writing.
  • Demonstrated strengths in verbal communication including facilitating groups and presentation skills.
  • Is skilled in culturally sensitive practices, adept at working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Has strong documentation skills, ensuring records are maintained and completed consistently and accurately.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with children, young people, families, colleagues, and external partners; knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Experience and exceptional understanding of DCJ TEI Reforms and programs
  • Experience and demonstrated skills operating DEX program
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Proficient in using Word, Excel, Publisher etc
  • Current NSW driver’s license
  • Police check and Working with Children Check
  • Cert IV in Training/Facilitation desirable
  • Sound experience in data analysis and research to support an evidence-based approach to all aspects of your work.

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience in similar role and or program.
  • Completed or undertaking postgraduate qualifications or further related studies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of grant writing and tender applications related to existing established funding streams and new developments and opportunities.
