About the service:
The Head to Health service is a service for adults in Western Sydney who are seeking emotional wellbeing and mental health support. Family and friends of people experiencing mental illness can also seek information, advice and support through the centre, located in the heart of Parramatta.

The service, is tailored to the needs of the community in Western Sydney, and provides a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support.

The Paramatta Head to Health service provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:

Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department for low risk individuals
Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting.

Role Overview:
The Community Engagement Coordinator seeks opportunities to reach out to people with mental health issues and the communities that support them, to provide health education, raise mental health literacy and community awareness and link people to appropriate services.

You will develop, facilitate and evaluate a range of community events, and health and education programs designed to improve mental health literacy and community awareness of challenges faced by young people, in order to increase early identification and help them to get early access to appropriate services.

You will work closely with our clinical team to understand the services that Head to Health provides, to advocate our services to both young people and the wider community.

Requirements:
Minimum of a Diploma qualification in youth work, mental health or other relevant discipline
Experience in a similar role working with people with mental health issues
Experience in planning, developing and delivering of high-quality education, training, and community awareness programs and activities
Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with and engage a variety of different people and stakeholders
Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team
Excellent organisation and time management skills
Confidence in use of IT including social media applications (e.g. Facebook), as well as website maintenance
Excellent verbal communication and written skills, including the ability to identify potential funding sources and write the appropriate grant submissions
Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
Current Driver’s License
