The Department of Energy and Mining is one of the few government departments that recognises the link between mining and renewable energy. This is a team where the compliance regulator engineer is responsible for conducting audits within the gas industry, providing recommendations and being involved in alternative fuels and emerging industries such as renewable gas.
Randstad are working exclusively with the Department of Energy and Mining. This position will be the source of knowledge within the gas regulation area. Providing advice, conducting audits, providing professional expertise to the sector and mentoring upcoming colleagues in the team.
Your new role:
As the Compliance Regulator Engineer you will be experienced in providing professional recommendations and advice to the industry. Your proven relationship building skills will be complemented by well developed, interpersonal and influencing abilities.
- Prepare and conduct state-wide audits, analysing the resultant information and providing professional recommendations and advice to industry, gas entities and other providers for the safety and technical performance of gas systems.
- Manage the complex operations of the Technical Regulation Directorate.
- Provide professional expertise for the ongoing development, implementation and administration of critical technical and safety regulation.
- Develop and implement procedures and policy for specific operational issues.
- Provide competent professional advice concerning the safety and technical performance of gas infrastructure systems.
- Work with the committees taking part in government research into the transition from natural gas to alternative fuels.
- Flexible hours and some after hours as required, intrastate travel and some interstate may be required.
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience within a civil/mechanical energy industry.
- A qualification in engineering/trade or equivalent experience.
- Highly developed communicator with the ability to positively influence.
- Experience in interpreting legislation, regulations and other guideline material relating to the gas industry in South Australia.
- Demonstrated level of experience and achievement in the prioritisation, development, implementation and auditing of complex engineering policies, strategies, codes and Standards in an energy infrastructure company or a similar large engineering organisation.
