The Opportunity
This position will contribute to the achievement of compliance outcomes within Noosa Shire by investigating, reporting and undertaking corrective actions of non-compliance of building, plumbing and planning legislation.
Further, the successful incumbent will provide sound investigation and technical decision making for the assessment and service delivery in relation to compliance matters relating to development applications, corporate activities, external bodies and other matters to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

About You
To undertake this position you will have demonstrated experience in a regulatory role within a dynamic, customer focused work environment, including experience in the field of development compliance and enforcement.
You will have knowledge of relevant statutory documents and requirements relating to building, plumbing and development in Queensland.
In addition, you will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with particular emphasis in the areas of advocacy, liaison, consultation, negotiation, conflict resolution in order to resolve issues.
The position's focus will be:
- Review development application conditions to ensure their compliance with approval conditions and statutory requirements.
- Respond to, investigate, and seek to resolve complaints of development breaches pursuant to the Building Act, Plumbing Act and Planning Act, and undertake enforcement procedures for non-compliance in a timely manner, meeting statutory timeframes where applicable.
- Carry out audits and inspections of certain regulated pools after receiving a notice of a pool immersion incident or a pool safety complaint notice and where necessary, provide compliance advices to the appropriate authority or undertake the required enforcement action.
- Provide advice and respond to queries and requests of a technical and general nature, to customers, developers, internal customers, professionals, contractors and the general public on matters relating to compliance with development approvals and State penalty matters.
- Prepare and provide correspondence, advisory, show cause and enforcement notices, reports on development compliance and enforcement matters.
- Preparation of reports and briefs for the presentation of evidence to the Queensland Building Tribunal, Magistrate’s Court or the Planning and Environment Court on appeals, State Penalty and enforcement matters.
- Accurately interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy, guidelines and best practice procedures in the delivery of high quality outcomes.
- Design and administer Councils backflow prevention device and on-site waste water facility registers and audit programmes for installation registrations, removals and associated correspondence.
- Exercise initiative and a degree of autonomy in making decisions, solving problems and resolving conflicts in relation to compliance and delegated applications.
- Other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.
