Ensure compliance excellence in operational delivery
Assist in the implementation of performance improvement programs & initiatives
Fulltime position working Monday - Friday based in Christmas Island WA

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join the team at Serco’s Christmas Island Immigration Detention Centre (CIIDC), reporting to the Compliance Manager. You will ensure the centre complies with the contract and customer requirements, and Serco policies through strong administration practises. You will identify areas where performance may be improved, assist in the implementation of performance improvement programs and initiatives. This position will maintain the national Quality Management System and support other management systems such as Health & Safety, Environment or Food Safety where necessary. You will assist with internal audits, and support the external audit program, collect and analyse data for the monthly KPI reporting process and manage document control systems. This is a fulltime position working Monday – Friday.

About You

You will manage a continuous process of contractual compliance to assess all aspects of performance within the centre. Training in internal auditing, performance management, business management or management systems, such as Quality, Environment, Safety Equivalent industry experience working in a highly controlled environment. You will have strong written and verbal communication with a high attention to detail. You’re a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything you do.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
  • Ability to identify areas where performance may be improved, assist in the implementation of performance improvement programs and initiatives
  • Conduct internal audits, and support the external audit program
  • Collect and analyse data for the monthly KPI reporting process
  • Manage a continuous process of contractual compliance to assess all aspects of performance within the centre
  • Equivalent industry experience working in a highly controlled environment
  • Familiar with management system standards, including one or more of ISO AS/NZS 9001:2001, ISO AS/NZS 14001:2004, ISO AS/NZS 4360:2004, ISO AS/NZS 4801 and HACCP
  • Knowledge of risk and compliance processes and quality assurance procedures
  • Skills in examination, questioning, evaluation and reporting
This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a national police check as an essential selection component for this role.
