Project Overview:
The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine work associated with Energy LNG projects along the Gulf Coast in the United States.
Position Summary:
The Construction Coordinator focuses on self-performing (direct hire) site civil work and marine scopes of work. They will initially be based in the Houston office before mobilizing to the field. They will support preconstruction planning, execution strategies, estimating and are responsible for the organization and direction of construction engineering personnel and activities relating to construction engineering, subcontracts, and engineering liaison with design teams.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with engineering on constructability and design issues. Establishes a Design/Field Engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer including agreement on engineering deliverables.
- Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
- Reviews and provides input to project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.
- Develops and ensures the implementation of the project construction procedures from the Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
- Prepares requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services and equipment. Approves requisitions as delegated by the Field Construction Manager. Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.
- Coordinates subcontract activities to ensure materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications.
- Works with customer’s resident engineering and operating personnel to coordinate construction activities.
- Ensures the implementation of project environmental control plan(s) as required.
- Issues field sketches to support construction needs.
- Determines requirements and organizes the preparation of as-built drawings.
- Coordinates punch-listing and inspection walkdowns for turnover.
Skills and Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Typically requires bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Effective communication skills and ability to work with various stakeholders.
- Technical knowledge of all phases of construction engineering relating to a single discipline interfacing with all areas, or in a multi-discipline position assigned to a single area.
- Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
- Prior experience working in a field engineering organization support direct-hire work preferred.
- Prior experience with soil stabilization, piling operation, and marine works preferred.
