The Role
Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a Construction Project Manager to join the team in Melbourne.
In this exciting role you will coordinate, plan and manage construction projects across the Woolworths portfolio. You’ll liaise with key stakeholders and be accountable for safety, time, cost and quality often in an operating store trading environment. You will minimise project impacts on performance in our stores on both renewal and new store projects.
In this role, key responsibilities will be:
Ensuring project lifecycle is delivered on time and to budget to latest store design kit
Engaging with multiple stakeholders including renewal managers, equipment purchasing officers, through to our construction and refit teams, contractors and shopfitters.
Participating in design and documentation processes to ensure agreements for built scope are fulfilled
Issuing external market tenders for shopfitting and other trade requirements
Providing summary reporting on projects
Sharing documentation internally for review and approvals
Managing the financial position of projects including cost reporting, forecasting and variation management
Analysing tenders and making recommendations
Attending construction meetings and providing influence to ensure alignment to project scope
Reviewing variations to project blueprints
Finalising contracts and arranging agreement between all parties
Overall management of all appointed contractors for construction, including site safety and resolving all on-site issues.
Undertaking defects/incomplete works inspections
Finalising contracts and arranging for signing to be completed by all parties.
Overseeing construction
Undertaking timely project closeouts, carrying out built quality inspections and managing financial matters.
Who we’re looking for
The suitable candidate will have:
Minimum 5 years experience in Development Management / Construction Project Management in an end-to-end capacity
Experience in retail supermarket environments / quick service retail desirable
Qualifications in Construction Management or a construction based trade background an advantage
Strong understanding of construction management methodology & principles
Strong program management skills
Intermediate to advanced MS office skills
Proficiency with Project Management systems such as Microsoft Project & Procore
Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills
A high level of organisational and time management skills
An ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently
An ability to be flexible to adapt to ever changing environments
Flexibility to travel to regional locations, including Tasmania for site meetings & inspections
Construction industry white card & drivers licence
Financial Management experience - SAP or similar
