The Role:
We are seeking a suitably experienced Obs and Gynae Consultant to join the O and G department in a city location.

You will have an opportunity to work in the gynaecology and antenatal clinics, obstetrics and gynaecology theatre lists and participate in the on-call roster 1:7. You will be expected to contribute to the education of the junior medical doctors, be involved in the quality improvement enhancing best practice and patient safety.

Duties to include:
Provide O&G consultation to inpatients and outpatients including service on the O&G after-hours on-call roster, participating in theatre sessions and Outpatient Clinics.
Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs in O&G.
Contribute to the clinical governance of the service by undertaking clinical audit, morbidity and mortality review and practicing evidence-based medicine.
Maintain effective communication with patients and their relatives, hospital staff, medical colleagues, General Practitioners and members of the multidisciplinary team
The Women’s and Children’s division provides maternity & gynaecology service. These services include antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, gynaecology, neonatal special care nursery support and domiciliary care. The Hospital works collaboratively with another Hospital for Women and Children which is a tertiary level maternity service and the Community Maternal and Child Health Services in the city.

Approximately 1800 births annually
Service provisions include Gynaecology and Antenatal clinics, Parent Education, Birth Suite, Birth Centre, Maternity Assessment Area, Maternity & Gynaecology Inpatients ward, and an eight cot Special Care Nursery.
2023 - the Women’s and Children’s Services are expanding to include a Diabetes in Pregnancy Program, a commitment to more births and an expansion of the Special Care Nursery to 11 funded cots.

This is 265 bed level 4 multi-discipline, modern public healthcare facility serving the community.
The hospital supports a broad range of acute and sub-acute services including community-based care. The model of care sees multidisciplinary teams work collaboratively to provide a high quality of patient care to the hospital and associated community and ambulatory care services

Skills & Qualifications Required:
Current registration with no restrictions as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).
Extensive technical and professional competence and experience in the specialty practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Demonstrated high level communication skills through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated experience in leadership, teaching and professional development of junior medical staff and other relevant staff to foster safe clinical practice and development of the medical profession.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
