CHILD PSYCHIATRIST - STATEWIDE CHILD & FAMILY CENTRE (SCFC)
An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a dynamic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our ICYMHS Directorate in the state’s first Child and Family Centre (SCFC) providing innovative and specialist mental health residential care for children under 12 years, and their families/carers. The Centre is located in a purpose-built residential building in the community in Macleod. It is an exciting time as the ICYMHS directorate is expanding in response to the recommendations from the Victorian Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health Services.
About the SCFC
The Centre aims to provide a comprehensive residential service to Victorian children and their families, where the children have experienced significant trauma. The service will focus on intensive, additional assessment and treatment to reduce the impact of mental illness, conditions or disorders, improve the quality of lives and restore the developmental trajectories of these children and their families. Children, their parents/carers and siblings (where appropriate) will be eligible to stay at the Centre for a length of time determined by assessed need.

Hours per week: 17.5 hours
Employment status: Permanent Part-time
Appointment period: Available April 2023 ongoing
The Consultant Psychiatrist will work in partnership with the Centre Manager and the Centre’s Therapeutic Specialists to ensure that services provided at the Centre are the highest standard, emphasizing excellence, service, care, staff performance, cost efficiency, research and education within a comprehensive clinical governance framework. You will be joining a multidisciplinary team of highly passionate, experienced, supportive and collaborative mental health professionals.
To be successful for this role you must:
Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or equivalent.
RANZCP Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or equivalent.
Must hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC Check) in compliance with the Working with Children Act 2005.
Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care.
Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum, and
Demonstrate a commitment to teaching, training and research.
