About The Role

This is a unique opportunity for a Control Engineer to join Origin's Generation and Development team. You will be responsible for providing engineering services to the Generation and Development team in relation to Origin’s Power Station assets and future developments.
Based in Brisbane, your focus will be to develop, maintain and improve Operation Technology systems safely and securely to improve performance and availability through a commitment to quality outcomes and continuous improvement via co-operative effort and sound technical engineering practice. In addition, you may provide technical input into the development of new assets to ensure the required level of safety, availability and operability over the design lifecycle.

This is a fantastic opportunity to put your design or operational engineering skills to work and be involved with current and developing generation technologies.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Power and Control Systems, your key accountabilities will include:

• Demonstrate a commitment to safety and risk management through personal actions
• Apply engineering theory, practices and principles to root cause analysis of equipment failures and operational performance losses
• Identification of continuous improvement opportunities in field of practice via personal action and encouragement to team
• Excel in the provision of engineering support to site and all relevant groups within Origin generation group
• Independently perform the following functions as part of the Engineering Services team:
  • Contribution to the development and implementation of asset management strategies and processes to ensure fleet equipment meet their intended design life at the lowest sustainable life-cycle costs
  • Capital and engineering estimation
  • Engineering scoping, design and design management
  • Equipment and installation work specifications
  • Technical supervision and commissioning of installation works
  • Support replacement, Upgrade, and maintenance activities
  • Remote diagnosis, rectification, and support
• Liaison with personnel across departments in an integrated organization e.g. Engineering Services, Risk and Compliance, and Asset Operations personnel etc. in performance of duties

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be a team player with a desire and commitment to continuously improve and a willingness to learn. You will be safety focused, with the ability to critically analyse technical problems and formulate solutions.

You will also demonstrate:

• Degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering (Controls) with a minimum of 3 years’ engineering experience
• Demonstrated Experience with DCS or SCADA Control Systems
• Experience in Operational Technology Cyber Security or OT Remote Networking will be viewed favourably, as will Power Station experience.
• Previous exposure to an isolation permit system would also be considered advantageous.
• Eligible of CPEng and RPEQ
• Commitment to working within a team environment who has an eye for continuous improvement
