Cook/Chef

Position’s Objective:
The Cook/Chef will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of meals, implementation of the Food Safety Plan, purchasing and ordering of food and providing assistance with menu planning at the Treacy Centre whilst complying with and upholding Occupation Health and Safety and food preparation standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with menu planning & costing
• Purchase of foods and Prepare quality meals in an efficient manner and in accordance with the menu plan including but not limited to soup/entrée`, main course and dessert as well as morning and afternoon teas.
• Understand and cater for any dietary requirements.
• Delegate duties to cooks, kitchen hands and others
• Assist with service and dining room setup and pack down as required
• Ensure that the kitchen is left clean including but not limited to, all equipment used is left clean and put away, the floor is swept and mopped, dishes, utensils, workspaces and appliances are cleaned and put away and the general kitchen area is kept clean and tidy to a high standard.
• Ensure the oven is cleaned regularly and the pantry and chiller will be left tidy and organised. Dispose of out-of-date food.
• If required to order food and associated commodities, check all orders and retain and submit order purchasing documentation to the Manager.
• Ensure the Centre’s Food Safety Program is implemented and followed.
• Comply with Workplace Health and Safety legislation (WHS) and policies and procedures in regards to workplace health and safety regulations
• To hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate (RSA)
• To hold a Food Safety Supervisors certificate

Work Conditions/Requirements:

• Manual Handling and some lifting and cleaning required.
• Willingness to undertake working with children check
• Current or willing to undertake food handling certificate
