The Role:
Northern Health employs senior and junior medical staff to support clinical activities across all its campuses. The Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) is responsible for medical workforce planning and the recruitment of senior medical staff (SMS) and junior medical staff (JMS) across Northern Health. The MWU is also responsible for providing employee service functions to medical staff and for providing policy advice on issues relating to employment of medical staff at Northern Health.
The Coordinator, Doctor Rostering and Wellbeing is responsible for operational functions for their allocated portfolio area under the guidance of the Manager Operations/Rostering and Wellbeing and the Operational Director, Medical Workforce.
As part of the rostering team, provision of support and guidance to Northern Health Junior Medical Staff (JMS) through the provision of employee service functions across the following areas:
- Maintains roster template and promulgates roster for Units within their respective portfolio, meeting appropriate timeframes and in accordance with Northern Health policies.
- Maintenance of JMS term allocations and 52-week roster in compliance with Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) conditions.
- Coordination and management of medical staff leave planning.
- Management and backfill cover of emergent JMS leave and vacancies - liaises with Heads of Units (HOUs) and advertises vacancies to casual pool, as required
- Close liaison with stakeholders eg. HOUs and JMS regarding rostering to meeting clinical demand and unit activity; business manager regarding roster reviews, overtime and budget build.
To be sucessful in this role you will have:
- Ability to liaise and work in a calm, clear and concise manner with medical staff
- Exceptional sense of customer service
- Highly organized and flexible work ethic, with high attention to detail
- Ability to schedule and manage tight timeframes along with the capability to prioritise urgent tasks
- Proven ability to problem solve and "think outside the square"
- Previous experience managing a large number of staff, particularly junior medical staff
- Previous experience in staffing recruitment and appointment processes and principles
- Previous experience using applicable HR and payroll systems
- Demonstrated understanding and application of the Medical award, EBA in rostering practices
