About the Role
Sport and Community Venue branch deliver and develop a diverse range of quality sport and community venues, optimising service outcomes and contributing to the social cohesion, economic viability and health and wellbeing of our community.
Coordinator Sports Venues and Development leads the strategic development, implementation and administration of Council’s sport venues and sport and recreation development programs, leads sport and recreation planning initiatives and projects, and ensure the team’s human, physical and financial resources operate within capacity.
Key duties include
- Lead and manage activities associated with Council’s sports venues, including aquatic centres, showgrounds and sport centres
- Lead sports planning and improvement initiatives for new facilities and across emerging development areas
- Lead sports development initiatives across the region in support of clubs and sporting associations
- Act as a key representative for the Economic and Community Development Group during times of disaster management in the planning, activation and evacuation phases
- Initiate and implement marketing and promotional methods to achieve maximum usage and community awareness of Council’s sports venues
- Foster a high performance team that strives to continuously improve cost effective service delivery and facility operations for the community and visitors
The role is currently based in Nambour but will be relocated to Maroochydore upon completion of Sunshine Coast City Hall.
About you
- You possess tertiary qualifications in a relevant field of facility management, business or related field from a recognised educational institution.
- You are experienced in sports planning and development, including facility management and administration, and engagement with sport and community groups with demonstrated outcomes.
- You are a strong communicator with the ability to influence change, explore contrary positions with stakeholders, negotiate positive outcomes and operate effectively at a senior level within a local government environment.
- Strong leadership skills and experience to confidently and positively lead and empower others is essential, and you are able to develop and coach team members, foster high employee engagement and foster a workplace culture consistent with Council’s corporate values.
