Correctional Education Officer – Intensive Learning Centre

Mid North Coast Correctional Centre

About the role

Salary Range: $89,892 - $100,771 pa - Superannuation - Annual Leave Loading.

Position Available: Ongoing – Full-time – 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday

Location: Mid North Coast Correctional Centre

Seeking a motivated adult educator to join the team responsible for the delivery of language, literacy, and numeracy courses demonstrating experience towards educational or institutional barriers to learning.

Key accountabilities
Develop course outlines, lesson plans and teaching and assessment resources in line with the requirements of accredited course and training package qualifications
Participate in evaluation processes including validation and moderation of assessment
Maintain ethical practices in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Implement education assessment and planning and processes to determine offender participation in appropriate education programs and services.
Conduct classes (for up to 10 hours per week - – reduced on pro-rata basis for part-time employees) with offenders which are contextualised to meet the learning needs, styles and interests of offenders under the principles of adult learning

Essential requirements

Current NSW driver license and preparedness to drive a vehicle in the course of performing the role.
Degree or Graduate Diploma in Education and TAE40116 Cert IV Training and Assessment

Corrective Services NSW Intensive Learning Centres offer full time programs that aim to develop inmates’ language, literacy and numeracy skills, pro-social knowledge and attitudes to support individual change and enhance post-release employment opportunities. Intensive Learning Centres aim to provide 21st century learning opportunities for inmates in a supportive environment where intense, collaborative learning takes place.

Participants have the opportunity to achieve a full Certificate qualification at levels I and II from the Foundation Skills Training Package under the registered training organisation Adult Education and Vocational Training Institute (AEVTI - RTO code 7057).
