- Work in regional QLD for an industry leader.
- Use your trade qualifications / mechanical experience in this ‘hands-on’ role
- Supervise a shift during production season, and repairs & maintenance in off-season
A bit about us
Queensland Cotton has been going strong for 100 years, supplying premium cotton to the world's textile markets. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Olam Agri, a leading global food and agri-business.
Our Cotton Gin facilities receive and process raw cotton to remove cotton seed and compress clean lint into cotton bales ready for export. For part of the year, you will lead seasonal teams to safely run 12-hour shifts (day or night) to meet production targets and budgets. For the rest of the year, as part of the permanent team, you will be heavily involved in the repairs and preventative maintenance program.
We have several opportunities across Regional QLD for permanent team members in our Cotton Ginning team.
About the role
This is a hands-on role in our Cotton processing site based in Cecil Plains. You will work in a small permanent team to:
- supervise a seasonal team of workers during day or night shift
- monitor production, conduct preventative maintenance and resolve breakdowns promptly to ensure downtime is minimised.
- ensure safe systems of work and sufficient information, instruction, training and supervision is provided for optimal health and safety
Who we seek
If you’re an experienced Ginner, we’d love to hear from you! We do however appreciate it’s a small industry, so we’re inviting tradies (or equivalent) or those with strong mechanical aptitude from other industries to apply.
You will of course need to be an ethical person, hard-working and safety-aware, able to think on your feet and troubleshoot, and take accountability to get results by working well with colleagues.
You must be confident of passing our pre-employment medical and drug screen as we have a zero-tolerance policy to drugs.
