THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced and intellectually curious lawyer to join our Content Legal team in Sydney. As a valued member of the wider ANZ Content team, the successful candidate will be responsible for structuring, negotiating and papering deals, and advising upon and implementing the business and legal frameworks and customs that apply to the acquisition, development, production, marketing and promotion of local content for Netflix’s global streaming service. They will work closely alongside business, creative and marketing/PR partners, as well as producers, talent, agencies and local counsel to execute on Netflix objectives.

The ideal candidate will be adept at building and managing relationships and be comfortable counseling business partners to drive business objectives. They will also be excited and inspired by the Netflix culture, will welcome the opportunity to be part of a fast‐paced organisation and thrive in communicating in a global environment. This is a demanding and fast-paced role that requires curiosity and significant initiative.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have demonstrable post-qualification experience advising on intellectual property and other legal issues in the Australian media and entertainment industry. Experience in licensing, production, media financing and/or distribution and practical knowledge of the industry is critical. The position will be based in Sydney, Australia, with periodic travel, including to Netflix’s offices in Singapore and Los Angeles.
