The Creative City Branch aims to strengthen Melbourne by supporting and enabling creative and learning opportunities through leadership, investment, service delivery, programming, infrastructure, engagement and support. Arts House is a key project for the City of Melbourne, complementing programming at sister venues ArtPlay and SIGNAL, and in the city’s First Nations festival YIRRAMBOI.
With a year-round program of dance, theatre, music, sound, new technologies and community projects, Arts House is one of the major forces shaping Melbourne’s cultural and social landscape. We cultivate diverse new audiences for independent artists’ ambitious new work, and we build relationships at both local and international levels. The team is based at North Melbourne Town Hall and is responsible for activation through the Arts House program, of the North Melbourne Town Hall and The Warehouse, as well as partnership and site-specific programs beyond these facilities. The program encompasses producing and presenting programs, and providing professional and creative development opportunities for artists and arts projects, often in collaboration. The team is responsible for the design, promotion and delivery of the Arts House program.
The Creative Producer designs, develops and delivers artistic projects, events and programs which support the strategic vision for Arts House as Melbourne’s centre for contemporary and experimental performance with the objectives of engaging new audiences and developing intergenerational independent artists and emergent communities of practice.

In addition, the position will require:
- An energetic and creative thinker who can conceive, contribute and bring to fruition a collective strategic vision
- Extensive experience working in the contemporary arts sector at a senior level, preferably in multi-art form contexts with artists across different career stages. Recent experience producing creative projects and events is essential.
- Experience in program design with research-driven, knowledge sharing and professional development models
- Delivery experience with multi-year, multi-partner, multi-stakeholder projects and a strong network within the contemporary arts sector
- End to end project management experience including preparation of funding applications, contract management, budgeting, scheduling, marketing and communications support and artist engagement
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including cultural competency, consciousness and safety in working with artists, staff and contractors, particularly from marginalised communities. Lived experience will be prioritised.
