Salary $82,099 - $92,404 (based on experience) Plus 10.5% Superannuation

One Contract role:

Salary $82,099-$92,404 (based on experience and contracted Full Time up until 31 December 2023) Plus 10.5% Superannuation

These two roles will work alongside each other performing the same function. The permanent role is pre-existing and ongoing in nature. The contract role is funded until 31 December 2023.

How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

The Creative Spaces Building Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance and security requirements of Creative Spaces’ studios, offices, gallery and residency spaces for creative practitioners and creative organisations.

The role will manage budgets and projects related to Creative Spaces buildings including preparation of briefs for contractors and consultants in accordance with the City of Melbourne’s contract system. They will investigate new technologies to enhance the facilities and maximise their sustainable operation whilst providing access and guidance to contractors engaged in inspections, repairs or maintenance of the properties and where possible, will also undertake minor DIY maintenance including repairs and painting, installations and on-site troubleshooting.

The Creative Spaces Building Manager is a key relationship manager with the artists, creative practitioners and creative organisations that Creative Spaces lease and licence space to. The role represents the Creative Spaces program at internal and external stakeholder meetings. They will ensure building rules for each facility are upheld by licensees and tenants and oversee the move in and out of licensees, tenants and artists and all related studio inspections.

The Creative Spaces Building Manager is responsible for managing OH&S requirements of the facilities, ensuring that regular fire-testing and emergency drills are conducted in a timely fashion.

What you will bring…

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence
  • Previous experience in managing a cultural venue or multipurpose facility with a diverse range of tenants
  • Previous experience in managing risk, event plans, OH&S and compliance in a venue management context
  • Solid understanding of and experience working with diverse stakeholders such as creative teams, artists, external contractors and government agencies
  • A track record in successfully developing and managing routine maintenance plans, long range capital works submissions and project budgets
  • Experience in managing projects specific to building and compliance projects
Desirable:
  • Experience working with local or state government
  • Ability to work flexible hours when the program requires it, such as Open Studio weekends, early mornings to let trades into the buildings or responding to emergencies.
Please note: Creative Spaces is interested in candidates with good facility management skills and experience in managing positive relationships with stakeholders. There is scope to advance candidates that do not hold the full experience in the above areas as some skills can be taught in the role.
