About the Northern Territory Legal Aid Commission:
The Northern Territory Legal Aid Commission (NTLAC) is an independent statutory authority established under the Legal Aid Act 1990. Our purpose is to ensure that people in the Northern Territory understand their legal rights and disadvantaged people have access to quality legal services, and to uphold a fair Northern Territory and national justice system.
About the role:
Under the supervision of the Darwin Practice Manager, provide high quality legal advice and representation to clients of NTLAC charged with criminal offences.
About you:
We are seeking a solicitor who can work within a busy criminal law practice and work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team. You will be committed to delivering excellent service for clients and have a demonstrated knowledge of criminal law practice and procedures and experience in advising and representing clients in criminal law matters.
You will have high-level oral and written communication skills, the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and clients with complex needs, including the use of interpreters to provide legal advice and representation.
