Job Description
- Consulting and advising clients of the important case detail elements.
- Determine legal strategies in regard to cases going to trial.
- Offering consultations and legal advice when dealing with case matters outside of court.
- Conduct Pre-Trial Actions preparing the Client for trial.
- Interview witnesses and other parties in relation to the case.
- Represent Clients during a trial, presenting evidence, making opening and closing statements, arguing motions and cross-examining witnesses and experts.
- Completed a Bachelor of Laws / Juris Doctor degree OR admitted as a barrister and solicitor to the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory.
- Experience, ability and confident to appear in Local Court sentences and defended hearings.
- Experience and ability to assist our trial advocates in sentences and trials.
- Sound knowledge of the criminal law, criminal procedure, and the Evidence Act.
- Highly developed oral and written communications skills.
- Highly developed analytical skills.
- Good advocacy skills.
- Passion for the criminal law.
