We are seeking enthusiastic, proactive Registered Nurse for Critical Care Clinical Nurse Consultant role in Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. This is a great opportunity for nursing professionals looking to continue to develop their skills and be a part of a community focused nursing team.

Where you'll be working

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Intensive Care Unit

What you'll be doing

The critical Care CNC role plays a key role in providing leadership to both the Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as well as the Clinical Emergency Response System (CERS) across the whole hospital.

The CNC will provide clinical leadership through advanced practice skills to review patients who may require admission to ICU and provide support to ward staff.

Monitor and review the Clinical Emergency Response data, Co leadership responsibility for National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, Blood Management and Communicating for Safety.

Monitor mandatory training compliance for Basic and Advanced Life Support and assist with competency assessments for the Medical Officers. The CNC will also identify, plan and deliver specialist clinical education for the hospital on topics relating to critical care, deteriorating patients and blood products. The CNC will also assist with the dissemination of relevant research to the clinical workforce and will work to support ongoing quality improvement projects relating to critical care.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

Registered with Authority to Practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification.
Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
Demonstrated ability to undertake quality improvement and research activities that influence and enhance clinical practice and implement change.
Demonstrated computer skills with experience using MS Office programs and electronic filing systems.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
